Kathmandu Horizon Leo Club

Leo Club of Kathmandu Horizon has been devoted to the service and welfare of the society since its establishment on February, 2003 under the sponsorship of Lions Club of Kathmandu Horizon. Inspired with motivation and energized with the passion of service, the Club created a history by winning the Best Club of the Year Award in its very first two leoistic years. The club reached the horizon but the youth-led club was a victim of brain-drain and this witnessed the state of almost complete passiveness with only few members remaining. The club was on the verge of termination. It was the determination of the remaining few members that kept the club alive.  Then on April 14, 2008, with the initiatives of Leo Nabin Thapa, past president of the Club and Leo Kritan Gautam, Club advisor, 25 new passionate members joined the club and a new board for the L.Y. 2008-09 was formed under the president ship of Leo Kripa Gautam.  This shifted the club to a new paradigm. The club regained its lost momentum and reached to a new height.

Since then, the club has been successful in creating some genuine examples of service. To join hands for the support of flood victims, the club collected some funds from a documentary show. The service was never a tiring task for the club members; rather it inspired us to vision “a world where everyone can see” with the accomplishment of an Eye Screening Camp and Free Cataract Surgery. Service never had a better meaning until we stepped ahead to inspire people to lend their hand to save lives. The Club organizes blood donation campaigns with the motive “every drop counts” in every six months. Leo Club of Kathmandu Horizon is well-known for its “service with joy”. This zeal has always acted upon the preservance of native culture. Deusi-Bhailo Program, a cultural cum humanity motivated program excites each and every person in the community every year. In the past years, funds raised from this event were used to help HIV-infected orphans, establishing a library in needy school in rural part of the country.  The energy is still up and club has also left its marks in tree plantation campaign to see a “Greener Earth” through a collaborative effort with the local community. In order to flourish the slogan of “WE SERVE” effectively among the young minds, LCKH formed a school club at Zenith Boarding School which, we believe, is the first of its kind in the district.

With a great determination, for a genuine cause, we have done it!

Thus we say, Let's Create a Reason to Serve
