Feed a Street Dog - Create Awareness!

Location : Kathmandu (Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square)

Initial Meeting Point : New Road Gate

Date : 17th December 2011

Time : 10:00am - 05:00pm

Program Description :

The giving season is around just the corner, so Leo Club of Kathmandu Regency is partnering up with the I Choose Volunteering Nepal, and Kathmandu Animal Treatment (KAT) Center and its volunteers to spread kindness and awareness about street dogs and how citizens can help them. http://katcentre.org.np/

The event is very simple and anyone can join in.

Viktoria, a very wonderful long-term volunteer at KAT and ICV Nepal will donate bags of dog food. As volunteers, we will be put in small groups and assigned to a general area to cover. Here, we'll feed any street dog we find. As we do so, we will hand out pamphlets in Nepali and English about KAT and how to deal with and help street dogs. KAT makes such a big difference, but still not everyone knows about it.

NOTE: Due to the large amount of people coming, please try to bring some dog food as in chicken heads/feet (50rps per kilo) or bagged food to help the process.

As the great Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Show respect and kindness and it will surely spread.

The event will take place on the Saturday, December 17th.

Feeding the street dogs is really just a present to the dogs, we know that it doesn't have any long-term impact. This is why we are also giving out information, so the people will know about KAT's sterilization program, rabies prevention, and what they should do if they see a dog suffering or sick.

Also, there is some information included about adopting a dog from the KAT Center and how to take care of your pet dog. Currently at KAT, they are overwhelmed with motherless puppies who need homes. Spread the word!

Meeting place and time will be set within the week. For confirmation, updates or questions, please contact Leo Club of Kathmandu Regency's president Pratik Paudel at pal525244@gamail.com
