PENBROOK LIONS WORK FEVERISHLY TO CONDUCT GARDEN MAINTENANCE AND PREPARE PLOTS FOR THE FIRST FROST OF THE SEASON BEFORE SUNSET

On Thursday, October 9th, 2025, the Penbrook Lions conducted their monthly club meeting at the garden. Much had to be done in a very short period of time, immediately following their meeting agenda. Garden maintenance, bed weeding, harvesting, weighing produce, cleaning and packaging produce, as well as greeting community friends. All was accomplished before sunset, including the coverage of 19 plots that could be affected by the forecasted frost; cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, and beet beds were protected. Much of the remaining summer vegetables were harvested: spinach, peppers, kale, lettuce, and tomatoes.
