We are helping out a nonprofit called The Makana Project that works to advocate public health measures during the COVID-19 crisis. The main component of their mission includes the development and free distribution of masks. Club members are sewing masks and cutting/prepping fabric. We have some supplies and fabric and we mainly need designers. Leo members can customize masks too! Volunteers sign up, they must register themselves as volunteers through the Makana website: themakanaproject.org .
Volunteers will have to make the masks at home and drop them off at designated sites. They can also just cut and prepare fabric since that is a need too. See the site for more info.
Fabric is available in Poolesville for pick up--email Mrs. Auel to make a request.
